The COVID-19 caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) was declared a pandemic by World Health Organization on March 12, 2020. This issue of Demography India, is specially devoted to the demographic impact of COVID-19. The volume contains twelve articles covering core issues of demography like fertility, mortality and migration affected by COVID-19, impact on health and mental health, health infrastructure and issues related to governance and gender. It also focuses on epidemiological concerns of reproduction rate, case fatality rate, and forecasting of COVID-19. Impact of lockdown has also been assessed in some of the papers. It is hoped that the papers appeared in this volume focusing pandemic will be helpful in policy corrections and pave the way for further research. I take this opportunity to thank Dr U.V. Somayajulu, President, IASP, Dr V.K. Tiwari, General Secretary for their support in bringing out this special issue. My colleague Dr Harihar Sahoo - Managing Editor deserves special thanks for his sincere and meticulous work in finalizing this volume.
