Demography India, Vol. 49, Issue 1, January-June 2020

From the Chief Editor’s Desk

Greetings!

This issue of Demography India presents twelve articles and one book review. The articles contain various demographic issues related to fertility, mortality, morbidity, health, gender and urbanization. During the past few months we have received a large number of submissions particularly by young population scientists. However, we have not been able to include many of them and selected the best papers after the review by two experts. I must say that our authors are very open to the suggestions and comments, and several of them happily revised the paper to maintain the standard of Demography India. I congratulate all of them for their sincerity and researching on the issues very pertinent to our times based on rigorous analysis of large scale secondary data and primary data as required. During the last one year around 100 reviewers helped us with their critical insights and comments on the submitted papers. I thank all of them for their support and help, and look forward to the demographers’ fraternity for their valuable time and help in reviewing the papers in future.

As we are passing through a difficult time of pandemic we have decided to bring out a special issue on Demography India on the impact of COVID-19 soon.

I take this opportunity to thank Dr Harihar Sahoo –Managing Editor for his constant help and support in finalizing this volume. We sincerely welcome any suggestions and comments to improve the Journal.
